NBA Slam Dunk Comp 2010

This is one of the coolest things I've heard in a long time. This season the NBA will be allowing four dunkers who are not in the league to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest at the All-Star Game in Dallas this year. Not only will this put a stop to the Dwight Howard show, it'll put pressure on the rest of the NBA's dunkers to step up.

What makes it even more exciting though is the fact that Lebron James tentatively agreed to enter, and you know people won't let that one go. So we're going to see King James vs. Krypto-Nate vs. Dwight Howard out for revenge vs. four guys who still have their passion for basketball and dunking. Not only that, the All-Star Game is being held in a football stadium!

I think this is a great move for the NBA because sports should start becoming more interactive with their viewers given the popularity of stuff like Twitter and YouTube. It's good to recognize the talent that exists outside the league and help to showcase it on a global scale. Besides, anything is better than another Superman reference preceding a circus shot.

Here's the introduction to this master scheme:

Make sure you check out all the dunkers videos here. My vote is for the French dude.

Thanks to Rog Zombie for the heads up.
